Maya Jewell Zeller

Maya Jewell Zeller is the author of several books, including the interdisciplinary collaborationAlchemy For Cells & Other Beasts, the chapbook Yesterday, the Bees, and the poetry collection Rust Fish, as well as co-editor, with Sharma Shields, of the anthology Evergreen: Grim Tales and Fables from the Gloomy Northwest (Scablands Books, 2021). She deeply appreciates the opportunities her writing creates in her life—such as travel to Oxford University or travel into forests and fields, and lifting other writers. Maya finds deep joy and human connection in teaching, as well, whether at conferences and festivals or as Associate Professor of English for Central Washington University, or as Affiliate Faculty for Western Colorado’s low-residency MFA. Her current works in progress are a memoir called “Raised by Ferns” (still seeking a home) and an academic textbook, “Advanced Poetry: Pathways into Poetic Lineages,” under contract with Bloomsbury (UK).
